Arizona is still a ways behind most of the top states in terms of depth, but at the very top, the state is packing some elite firepower. Within the state’s borders, the top school at this time is Valiant Prep. But they don’t compete during the scholastic season so if you want the top school who does, that’s Sunnyside.
The two returning Super 32 medalists are champion Chris Castillo and teammate Kyler Larkin. Castillo comes here with the 2 seed at 120 and Larkin likewise is the 2 seed at 132. Naturally these are the two most likely champions from the state.
Beyond them, Sergio Vega, Carlos Stanton, and Dean Anderson are the names to watch.
I don’t know enough about the rest of the field to give a real legit dark horse candidate but maybe that’s the little Larkin.
