Looking at the nation’s toughest state, it gets that recognition for the talent, year after year. This year was no different. As the season wraps up, the Keystone State ends up with 48 total ranked wrestlers (the most in the country) with a division split of 23 in AA and 25 in AAA. Taken separately, each division would be among the highest in the country as well.
Rune Lawrence (Frazier) became the next 4 time PIAA state champion with a win capping off one of the most dominant careers in the state.
New to the year end rankings are Lincoln Sledzianowski, Greyson Music, Andrew McMonagle, Aiden Herndon, Curtis Nelson, Kaedyn Williams, Trey Wagner, and Dean Houser. They ended the season with strong performances at Hershey that they couldn’t be denied.
Pennsylvania ends as the only state with both the #1 and #2 in the country at multiple weight classes. Joey Bachmann and Dom Deputy at 106 AA and Luke Simcox and Pierson Manville at 144 AAA.
The breakdown by grade is Senior (18), Junior (12), Sophomore (12), and Freshman (6).
